Individual Conflict of Interest (COI)

A conflict of interest (COI) that relates to situations in which financial or other personal considerations may compromise, may involve the potential for compromising, or may have the appearance of compromising a Covered individual’s (any University employee, student, or trainee who is performing teaching, research, public service, administration, or business operations of the University) objectivity in meeting University duties or responsibilities, including research activities. The interest of a covered individual’s spouse and dependents is considered the same as the covered individual. UNC-Chapel Hill COI: COI Definitions
