Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)
An organization that provides web-based education and training on research ethics, regulatory requirements, responsible conduct of research, research administration and other topics pertinent to the interests of member organizations and individual learners. Investigator(s) and study personnel are required to complete core modules of CITI’s Human Subject Protection course, including the module on Conflict of Interest (COI), prior to engaging in human subject research on behalf of UNC-Chapel Hill or UNC Health followed by a refresher course every 3 years. Additionally, CITI Good Clinical Practice (GCP) module is required for UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Health investigators and study personnel who are involved in the design, conduct, oversight, or management of clinical investigations involving drugs, devices or biologic(s), including those funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH). CITI GCP must be completed prior to the initiation of the research and then renewed every 3 years.
