Review of research with very minimal risk to human subjects pursuant to the federal regulations. Exempt reviews are generally completed by reviewer(s) in the UNC-Chapel Hill Office of Human Research Ethics (OHRE), rather than the convened Institutional Review Board (IRB). Protocol(s) that are deemed exempt are effectively exempt from continuing review.
