Also referred to as a minor, a person who has not attained the legal age for consent to treatments or procedures involved in the research, under the applicable law of the jurisdiction in which the research will be conducted. According to North Carolina (NC) State Law, minors are persons under the age of eighteen. The general rule is that a person may consent to their medical care at the age of eighteen (age of majority) but there are circumstances that give minors “majority” status.
