IRB application

A request for review submitted in the Institutional Review Board Information System (IRBIS). Once submitted and approved, details noted in the IRB application must be followed by the study team. The following initial IRB application types are available:
- Just-in-Time (JIT)/118 application: Request for approval in concept for a federally funded project that has been notified that a grant application is likely to be funded and a full research plan is pending; IRB review and approval must follow prior to engaging in Human Subjects Research (HSR).
- Not Human Subjects Research (NHSR) application: Request for an NHSR determination.
- Exempt (exempt review) application: Request to evaluate study for a possible exemption.
- Multi-Site application: Request for UNC-Chapel Hill Institutional Review Board (IRB) to provide oversight for external groups, organizations, or individuals.
- Rely-On application: Request to rely on an external IRB.
- Full application: Used in all other instances.
